DescriptionThis is the 2nd morning in a row one of the idling 3 trains at The Santa Fe Depot sounded their horn without going anywhere. One loud blast at 4:30 am work me from a sound sleep. Why are trains sounding their horns when they are not moving? I can't be sure which train it was as there are 3 on the trains all night long every night.
DescriptionSitting at the Santa Fe Depot the train revved their engines very loudly and blasted their horn 2 times for no reason. They were sitting idle and not going anywhere.
DescriptionWORST display of complete disregard with the horn in the 4 years I have been downtown. This train could be heard from Little Italy until crashing into the train yard. I know you have rules and regs that require horn blowing but where are your protective measures against abuse such as this? I certainly hope this particular engineer gets a suspension OR better yet is removed from his/her position for such a blatant disregard for our quality of life. That horn is meant to protect us... NOT disturb and alarm us!!!
DescriptionUnbelievable Disregard for Rules, Laws or Common Sense by reckless train conductor blowing his/her horn with full decibles for 30-40 seconds
DescriptionEngineer was way out of line, leaning on the horn as the train passed through downtown San Diego. Engineer was in violation of horn rules with the excessive blasts.
DescriptionFar too many horn warnings as approaching intersection, horn continued after crossing intersection and many of them were over 10 seconds in length. Unnecessary noise.
DescriptionRepeatedly, non stop, blasted horn, over and over throughout the entire length of the city as the train moved from south to north. Worst case of noise pollution and abuse and harassment I have ever heard from a train horn in the five years I have lived in downtown San Diego. This event set a new record and qualifies the engineer to be nominated as the worst engineer of the century.
Description23 blasts at 1st Ave. and Front St. and then a repeat at Market and Harbor.
DescriptionLoudness and blasts lasting 5 - 10 seconds without intervals.
DescriptionConstant, incessant blowing of the horn. No discernable pattern. Totally without reason or purpose.
DescriptionConstant, incessant blowing of the horn. No discernable pattern. Totally without reason or purpose.
DescriptionThe train was blaring its horn nonstop, as usual, as it approached Cedar street. It then came to a complete stop before enterring the intersection and just sat there laying on the horn. He then proceeded throught the intersection at literally 1 mph or less, the whole time not letting off the horn. This is insanity! I already know what the response will be: "There was a person near the tracks." I saw no one and I have a clear view from of the tracks from my balcony.
DescriptionSeveral extended horns sounded as each intersection was approached and each lasted at least 30 seconds. At that time of morning there was absolutely no need for any horn sounding.
DescriptionExcessive and totally outrageous long continuous blasting of the horn from one end of town to the other. The engine only had a few cars on it. It was malicious and terroristic.
DescriptionEngineer LEANED on the horn with an obvious intent to disturb downtown residents. The blasts lasted least 6 seconds in duration. There were NO short blasts until leaving the Marina district. Not certain of the direction of travel as I was awakened from a sound sleep and could not see the train.
DescriptionTotally excessive time spent on the horn. I have full view of the intersection and nothing was anywhere near the tracks. He did the same all the way to my intersection and I heard him do the same all the way out of the city. It was malicious and obscene. I feel terrorized.
DescriptionI was a passenger in the train and the conductor had the PA system so LOUD that you couldn't think straight. The pre recorded messages (the door is closing) were normal but the conductor was on the PA every 5 minutes or so at such a loud volumn that it was extremely annoying. You couldn't even put your head back and relax.

DescriptionLong extended horns - no discernable pattern - laying on the horn for no apparent reason - excessive!!!!!!!!!!
DescriptionThe worst I've witnessed. Every two hours from 10pm until 6am. Long and loud horn blasts. 5 incidents in one night!! Totally unacceptable! Both inbound and outbound from city.
DescriptionLong continuous horn blowing approx 3-4 seconds in lenght
DescriptionAll rail crossings affected. Engineer did not seem to understand the proper rule for the train horn and leaned on it excessively on approach to each intersection and never used any short blasts.
DescriptionA major incident took place at this intersection. There was a police escort traveling east on G St and several motorcycle police officers ignored the closing rail crossing arms and went around the arms as the Coaster was approaching. One officer stopped and flagged the engineer to stop the train which he did. The engineers then exited the engine to determine the cause of this unusual situation. I would appreciate a response to this report and to be kept informed.
DescriptionToo loud, inconsistent horn long, short, long, long short - what are these conductors thinking?
DescriptionWhy do they have to blow that horn so long & long at such an hour. Blasted out of bed the last two nights in a row with the blaring horn at 12:28 AM.
DescriptionVery Loud horn blasts. Intentionally Loud, no people or cars near crossings. Several long blasts. At 1:30am!!!!
DescriptionLoud and excessive whistle blasts........heard the train a long time in advance of all crossings starting in Little Italy and continuing into the train yards with loud bangs and booms of the cars being jerked along.
DescriptionIncessant horn sounding far more than 20 seconds before entering the intersections at Market St and then at Front. NO resemblance to any pattern as suggested by FRA law. NO people or vehicles near the track.
Subject: COASTER Incident Report
CommentsSitting at Brickyard Cafe (Kettner & G St) when Coaster came through toward Rail Yard. Engineer leaned on the horn as the train was going through the intersections (including but not limited to Market ST crossing & Kettner & G crossing). The following Coaster, engine # 2101 blew the horn correctly at 8:35am
