NCTD and SANDAG are
planning to start construction for the Del Mar Bluffs 2 Slope Stabilization
project this fall. As a result of this project, tentatively, the track will
be out of service from 10 PM to 5 AM, Wednesday through Sunday night, for 6
to 9 months.
This outage will cause the cancellation of some late
night/early morning trains into and out of San Diego. More specifically,
Amtrak will cancel their daily train that normally arrives in San Diego at
12:50 AM and will bus its passengers from Irvine directly to San Diego.
Depending on rail traffic congestion,
BNSF will attempt to move
one train in and one out of San Diego at mid-day and another inbound and
outbound in the evenings. BNSF trains departing San Diego may occur in the
late night/morning hours only to move their trains to the Morena area, north
of the San Diego River.
